There are lots of exciting things happening in the EVDO world these days, from expanded coverage to new EVDO devices. Here's a sneak preview of some of the developments we are anticipating:
The Merlin u720 Sprint EVDO USB device: Sprint is set to make these available after October 1st, and we are all very excited. It will be Rev A capable and will have a port for an external antenna, 2 features the Franklin CDU-550 did not have. Since it hasn't been released yet we are unsure of its Mac compatibility, but we will post information on that as soon as we get ours in for testing.
The Pantech PX-500 PCMCIA card: Pantech's card will be released for Sprint's Rev A network next week. The card will be available for FREE to customers who sign up for a new 2-year contract!
Expanded Verizon EVDO Coverage: All week EVDO users have been posting to EVDO Forums, informing us of new broadband areas in the country. Nashville, TN and High Point, NC, Greenville, Boise, Stockton, Tucson, most of Florida are a few of the areas that were upgraded from 1xRTT to broadband this week, and we are hoping that next week will bring broadband to even more cities!
Verizon Rev A? Sprint has been the leader with Rev A devices thus far, but there are rumblings that Verizon is working to catch up. Could they be gearing up for a Rev A device launch? Stay tuned!!
