Cradlepoint IBR600/650 Integrated Broadband Router Review Now Online

The IBR600 and IBR650 are the latest routers to leave Cradlepoint's warehouse and offer new features never seen before on their router lineup. These integrated broadband routers - which are identical other than the fact that the IBR600 features WiFi capabilities while the IBR650 does not - are designed for extremely rugged applications, where a traditional router and wireless modem won't be applicable. The device is small, just (3.3 X 4 X 0.9 inches) and features either a Sprint 3G or Verizon 3G embedded wireless radio to provide cellular connectivity anywhere service is available. This makes the IBR600/650 ideal for ATMs, kiosks, digital signage, surveillance or M2M applications where you need a "no hassles" reliable internet connection.

Pepwave Max 700 Bonding Information

Now that 4G wireless is becoming more widely available, the doors have been opened on what's possible over a mobile broadband connection. Over the past few years there has been an increasing demand for a "bonding" solution, which is different than traditional load balancing. So, one of the first question is what exactly is the difference between load balancing and physically bonding a connection? Load balancing allows you to take multiple modems and balance the load between them within the router directly. This load balancing method WILL NOT give you a single stream resulting in one faster download and upload speed. This simply balances the load to offset usage when your office needs to support a lot of concurrent users, not to increase a single stream.

Physically bonding allows you to take multiple connections and turn them into one single stream, which allows you to have an increased download and upload speed. This can be incredibly useful for companies that demand a single pipe that offers faster speeds to download or upload real time video, route large amounts of traffic and handle video conferencing.

Extended Battery for 3G/4G MiFi 4510L Gets Rave Reviews

mifi 4510L with extended battery

Verizon's 3G/4G MiFi 4510L hotspot has been one of the hottest mobile broadband devices on the market, but users have one complaint about it: the battery it comes with only lasts for about 2-4 hours, which isn't enough time for some users. Our 5000mAh Extended Battery for the MiFi 4510L has been a lifesaver for MiFi 4510L users who rely on their hotspot for all day internet connectivity and has quickly become a mainstay in 3Gstore's list of top 20 highest-rated products. The 5000mAh Extended Battery lasts up to THREE TIMES as long as the standard MiFi 4510L battery, and while it is larger (it has to be since its so much more powerful), it doesn't add too much bulk to the hotspot - even with the extended battery installed (see the photo above), the MiFi 4510L is still a sleek, portable unit.

Here are just a few of the reviews we've received from customers using the MiFi 4510L extended battery:

"Very happy with this purchase. This 5000mAh extended battery has been an excellent solution for the short battery life of the MiFi 4510L. Three hours on the stock battery was much too short, since I use the hotspot all day long as my 3G/4G access to the Internet from a remote location."

"...I can leave the 4510L on all day. I typically turn on the mifi around 8:00 am and plug it in around 6:00 pm. I usually have 2 battery bars left by 6:00 pm. I connect an iPhone and iPad constantly, and a MacBook pro intermittently... If you are looking for long life and you are carrying a pack like I do because the iPad doesn't fit in a pocket - then this is a great battery. If you want something that fits better in a pocket then you better have some cargo pants. Bottom line - this battery lets the mifi last as long as an iPad."

"So far, so amazing. Transformed the Mifi from a very short-lived tool (the battery it comes with runs out very quickly) to a real tool. I've used the extended battery on several trips and haven't recharged it once."

"With the stock battery we would see 2-3 hours of battery life. With this monster we see closer to 8-10 hours. The cover fits well, battery is snug, and everything plays well together."

"Excellent product. Battery works great; love the extended usage time -- turns the device into an "all day" Internet connection device."

iPhone 5 In Stock

The big question for the rest of the year is how will the iPhone 5 impact Apple's stock, which is currently trading at $405/share.  We believe the Apple iPhone 5 demand will be very high for some time.  As quickly as Apple can build iPhone5's, AT&T / Verizon / Sprint will be selling them.  After the hype dies down and the demand remains high, investors will continue to drive Apple stock much higher then it is today.  So the question is how high will iPhone 5 will drive Apple stock?  If we had to convert iPhone 5 in Stock (we think it will be at $600 by qtr 2012).

Let us know what you think Apple's closing price will be on 12/31/2011.  The Winner will get a $100 gift certificate.

iPhone 4S Siri, Is the 1987 Knowledge Navigtor Finally Here?

Back in 1987 Apple created a 'proof in concept" on how people will interact with their devices in the future.  That really never happened, BUT the next iPhone (iPhone5) may actually be moving us in that direction.  There have been reports that over the last year that Apple partnered with Nuance (speech company) and they also purchased Suri (another speech company) and there have been leaks that this powerful speech and speech reconition feature finally will have enough power with the rumored dual-core A5 processor that is rumored to be in the iPhone 5.

Apple created a proof of concept video in 1987 named the "Knowlege Navigator" (see youtube video).  While iOS5 isn't exactly this, it is sounding like it is going down this 2 way interaction wiht your device.

LightSquared Being Investigated by Oversight Commitee

This isn't good news for LightSquared (the satellite based LTE/4G Network that is being deployed).  First they have problems with interfering with GPS signals (because the frequency they use is very close to GPS signal and it causes GPS to stop working.  The military probably doesn't like this.  Now, LightSquared is being investigated for giving donations to the White House in return for getting approval to build out their 4G Network.

With the recent collapse of Solyndra which costs taxpayers 500 million, we are sure that LightSquared will be looked at very closely.

Sprint Adjusts Early Termination Fee (in Preparation for iPhone 5?)

Sprint has changed the Early Termination Fee and Upgrade Fees, see below:

9/9/11: Early Termination Fee (ETF) Change & Upgrade Fee Increase
  • ETF Policy Change - New policy requires up to a $350 ETF for Advanced Devices (smartphones, tablets, netbooks, notebooks) activated on or after 9/9/11.
  • Upgrade Fee Increase - The upgrade fee assessed when an existing Sprint customer purchases a new or refurbished device will increase from $18 to $36.

Many are speculating that these changes are due to the iPhone 5 that is rumored to be coming to Sprint next month.
