CradlePoint's New NetBSD Routers, Everything you Wanted to Know
Did you know that a massive change started with CradlePoint on 1/1/2011? What is it? They completely rewrote the software that makes their routers work (ie, firmware). They switched from a
proprietary system to something called NetBSD. NetBSD is Linux based and the same OS that Apple uses for Mac OS X. All new routers will be NetBSD based. The older platform will still be supported for the next year, BUT no new routers will be based on the older and you will not see any new features. All the exciting stuff will be happening on the NetBSD platform.
So, it is probably in your best interest to get a router that is based on NetBSD, which include:

Playstation 3 Gaming Tipsheet for New Cradlepoint BSD
At 3Gstore we provide a variety of tipsheets available exclusively to 3Gstore customers that offer step by step instructions on various configurations. As Cradlepoint moves to their new BSD platform on models like the CTR35, MBR95, CBR400 and MBR1400, they've created a more intuitive and user-friendly admin interface. We have created extensive PDF step-by-step guides for these platforms, however, until now we didn't have one for specifically for gaming with the new Cradlepoint BSD. Over the last year we've been getting more and more customers interested in gaming over a 3G or 4G connection. To make things easier for 3Gstore customers, we've developed an exclusive tipsheet dedicated to the new Cradlepoint BSD platform.

Cellphone-Mate 9.5" Full Band 3G/4G Outdoor Omni Antenna Impressions
Back in March we announced that we'd be getting a 4G Omni Antenna to test in April that offered increased reception on the standard (800/1900Mhz) 3G frequencies as well as the 700Mhz 4G LTE band. Since we've received the antenna we've conducted several tests to see how well this antenna works with Verizon's new 4G LTE network. These tests consisted of the modem by itself in both 3G and 4G modes, in each port on a Pantech UML290, Speedtest results and the signal level we achieved with each individual configuration.

Verizon Launching Tiered Smartphone Plans on July 7th?

According to Engadget Verizon will be implementing tiered based pricing on their smartphones. This move could be preparation for the next iPhone or just to stop people from tethering their phones with third party applications. If you're on a Verizon Smartphone, make sure to lock yourself into that unlimited status while you still can!

Cradlepoint CBR400 Business-Series Portable Router: First Look
Cradlepoint has released several new routers in the past few months, and they continued the trend this week by launching the CBR400 (Compact Broadband Router). The CBR400 is the successor to the CTR500, which has been one of Cradlepoint's most popular travel since 2008 thanks to its compact size, support for both USB and ExpressCard modems, and Cradlepoint didn't change either of those features when it comes to the new CBR400. The CBR400 is nearly identical in appearance to its predecessor, from the dimensions to the ports - just like the CTR500, the CBR400 features one USB port, one ExpressCard port, and a single ethernet port that can be configured as either a WAN input or LAN output.
