IPS Tracking via WiFi
Do you remember last years scandal when customers found out their iPhone's were tracking their every move? A new technology is now being developed called IPS (Indoor Positioning System), which allows pinpoint tracking by any WiFi enabled device. This means if you've got your smartphone, tablet or laptop with you and the WiFi is turned on you could be easily tracked down.
The concept behind the technology is designed to make your life easier by helping you find things like a restroom in a department store, or the departure gate at the airport. However, there will be a marketing spin allowing businesses to target you with deals and discounts from retailers after entering a shops threshold. The technology is still in its infancy, but may be moving in a similar direction as Path Intelligence, which designed cellphone tracking technology for mall applications.
