At 4G World 2012 conference in Chicago T-Mobile announced that they plan to deploy LTE (Long Term Evolution). They hope to "cover 200 million people with LTE by the end of 2013" and complete the rollout in 2014, according to CTO Neville Ray from his keynote on Wednesday. Their plan includes releasing LTE in major metropolitan areas in 2013, and they’ll be testing LTE-Advanced this summer. In order to meet these broad expectations T-mobile is planning to merge with MetroPCS in 2013, which will give them more spectrum to improve both download and upload speeds. Right now T-Mobile is relying on their HSPA+ network capable of delivering either 21Mbps or 42Mbps speeds in upgraded markets.
