Adobe recently discovered that earlier versions of Flash Player on both Windows and Macintosh machines are vulnerable to attacks. With CVE-2013-0634 being exploited in the wild, Adobe has released some security updates, which will address these vulnerabilities.
According to the Adobe Security Bulletin, these ‘vulnerabilities could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system,’ going on to add that, ‘targeted attacks designed to trick the user into opening a Microsoft Word document delivered as an email attachment which contains malicious Flash (SWF) content.’ A more detailed overview of the vulnerabilities were reported by the National Vulnerability Database.
You’ll want to determine your Flash Player version and update, if necessary. Mac OS X & Windows 7/Vista/XP/2008/2003 users will want to update to Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.149.
