U.S. Cellular to expand LTE up to 87% of coverage area

U.S. Cellular recently stated that they plan to expand their 4G LTE coverage to 87% of the company’s customer base by the end of 2013. Right now 61% percent of customers have access to 4G LTE that is capable of delivering speeds around 5-12Mbps download and 2-5Mbps upload. Their 87% goal translates into about 3,800 additional cities and towns that will be covered with 4G LTE including Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska; Manhattan, Kansas; Eureka and Ukiah, California. When finished the LTE expansion will give U.S. Cellular customers access to LTE service in fourteen additional states.
