AT&T HD Voice coming in late 2013

Earlier this week AT&T senior VP Kris Rinne stated that they plan to deploy HD voice by the end of 2013. The strategy involves using their new 4G LTE network to deliver HD voice, but is not the same as VoLTE, which has already proven to be a huge battery hog cutting runtimes in half. Carriers like T-Mobile and Sprint have already deployed their version of HD voice and it doesn’t eat nearly the bandwidth or battery that VoLTE does. The only downside to HD voice is the quality will not be nearly as good as what full fledged VoLTE enabled devices will offer when the service debuts early next year.
