WARNING: Microsoft Security Update KB2823324 May Cause Issues

Windows 7 users beware of the Security patch KB2823324. What was supposed to update the Windows 7 file system kernel-mode driver, instead resulted in an infinite reboot loop cycle for some users. Therefore, Windows 7 was prevented from fully loading. Winbeta reported the issue April 11th, so hopefully this warning hasn't reached you too late.

Reports have come mainly from users in Brazil, but considering it can affect anyone Microsoft has stopped the distribution since then. Winbeta provided a statement from Microsoft saying, "Microsoft is investigating behavior where systems may not recover from a restart, or applications cannot load, after security update 2823324 is applied. We recommend that customers uninstall this update."

So, if you have already installed the update, there is still hope. Based on what other users who have experienced the issue reported, Microsoft released an explanation of symptoms and resolutions. In addition, Microsoft will also be releasing a new update that resolves the issue.
