Softbank to invest $16 billion in Sprint

After Dish network dropped out on bidding on Sprint Softbank has stated they’ll invest a lot into Sprint to make them competitive with Verizon and AT&T. Softbank says they’re prepared to spend about $16 billion on Sprint over the next two years and $1.6 Trillion Yen is going specifically to LTE base stations. Masayoshi Son President of Softbank says he hopes to pull even with Verizon’s LTE coverage within the next two years and Son insists "We've found that there is considerable possibility for cutting costs”. Catching up to Verizon will be a tall order since they’ve got over 99% of their 3G network covered with 4G LTE, but if they can do it within two years, Sprint should also be able to match their deployment speed.
