Verizon Communications has placed on hold plans to acquire two small Canadian mobile network operators.
According to Reuters, Verizon is instead weighing whether or not to participate in an upcoming Canadian spectrum auction.
The deadline for entering the auction is September 17. If Verizon participates in the auction, it cannot forge any sort of deal with other participants until next year.
Verizon was eyeing Wind Mobile and Mobilicity as potential acquisition targets, though it has yet to officially recognize or confirm any such plans.
