Peplink announces the Balance One Dual-Band 802.11N Router

Today Peplink has announced the new Balance One router designed specifically for SMB and Branch networking. Details are scarce at this time but the unit will have two WAN connections for traditional DSL/Cable and one active USB port for cellular failover or load balancing. Unlike other Balance models this unit will feature 8 Gigabit LAN connections and 1Gbps of throughput within the WAN interface. Possibly the biggest addition to this specific model will be dual-band 802.11n for companies that want 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi. This is the first Balance model to support WiFi, all other models would require an additional AP like the AP One unit.

The Balance One also supports Captive Portal capability so if you operate on a commercial space you can create a walled garden for customers that want to connect to your WiFi network. This allows you to keep track of individual users on your network and make sure they agree to your terms and you’ll have the ability to block them from any sites you don’t want on your network. In addition you can combine your WiFi networks with their Outbound Policy Management tools to make sure any guest or networks not essential to day to day operations only operate on primary connections and not more expensive backup links. The Balance One also supports SpeedFusion capability to establish a secure VPN to branch offices or telecommuting employees using entry level Surf SOHO units.
