Boeing Releases Details on a Self-Destructing Smartphone!

Boeing, known for their fighter jets, airliners, and satellites is getting into another market - smartphones. This isn’t just any old smartphone however, it’s the type of phone you’d use if you were some super secret agent. The Boeing Black is being marketed as a secure mobile device geared for U.S. Defense and security communities.

Not many details have been released about the phone as of yet, but what we do know is this:
  • Uses Android OS
  • Can communicate over satellite transceivers and discrete radio channels
  • Advanced location tracking and biometric sensors
  • Encrypted storage for sensitive data
  • Self-destruct mode - YES, you heard that right - If someone tries to pop open the device, it is automatically wiped of its data and made inoperable
Becky Yeamans, a company spokeswoman, commented on the new mobile device, “Designed to meet the evolving security needs of defense and security customers, Boeing has released a modular smartphone to enable secure access and exchange of critical data and communications on a trusted mobile device.”
