AT&T Offers DOUBLE DATA Plans Until October 31st

If you’ve got service with AT&T, or are looking to set up new service, listen up because AT&T has an offer for you! In a likely effort to keep up with the mobile broadband competition [put forth by T-Mobile and Sprint], they’re offering DOUBLE DATA on 15 GB and higher Mobile Share Value plans.

Hurry up though - you only have until October 31st to take advantage! After that, the data plans will revert to their usual limits. Even better news, those who choose the double data plan will be able to keep the plan as long as they like - even after the offer has expired!

The smallest plan, being 30 GB, will cost you $130 per month - compared to the regular cost of $225, that’s a savings of $95! The regular plans also only go up to 50GB. Now, they have a 60 GB, 80 GB, or 100 GB plan. Check out the picture below for a complete data and price breakdown.

Verizon Enables VOLTE - Voice Over LTE - Guide To Enable iPhone 6

Verizon Wireless will be rolling out VoLTE this week! As part of their new “Advanced Calling 1.0” initiative, the service is limited to the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. However, in order to take advantage of the service, you’ll have to manually enable it on the phone.

First, make sure the iPhone is activated and connected to Verizon’s LTE network. Next, go to Settings -> Cellular -> Enable LTE

By default, the Enable LTE option will be limited to “Data Only.” Tap on “Voice & Data” to enable VoLTE. It may take a few minutes to complete the process. Please note that some users have reported that the Advanced Calling 1.0 had to be enabled on the account BEFORE the iPhone would accept the change. To check this on your own account, you can simply log in at Verizon’s website and go to Manage My Account -> Change Features. Scroll down until you see the Advanced Calling 1.0 and HD Voice and make sure they are enabled.

Verizon expands 4G XLTE Coverage

xlte_logo.jpg

On September 18, Verizon Wireless announced that they have launched XLTE in 22 new markets, bringing double the 4G LTE bandwidth and greater peak speeds now in more than 400 markets coast to coast.

That means that 4 out of 5 Verizon Wireless 4G LTE markets, large and small, from New York to San Diego and from Chicago to Miami - and beyond - also now have Verizon Wireless XLTE.
Adding XLTE to Verizon’s 4G LTE network is like doubling the number of lanes on a freeway from 10 to 20. The extra lanes means traffic can move faster, but the speed limit hasn’t changed.

Your technology is only as good as the network it is on. The advantage of XLTE helps enable a more mobile lifestyle for customers who are continuously on the go – to watch video, access the Internet, connect to social media, and more. Below is a full list of markets that have been upgraded with XLTE support:
  • Blytheville, AR
  • Burlington, IA
  • Sterling, IL
  • Sterling, IL
  • Ft. Dodge, IA
  • Hilo, Hawaii
  • Pierre, SD
  • Jacksonville, NC
  • Joplin, MO
  • Lihue, HI
  • Manitowoc, WI
  • Centralia, IL
  • Ocala, FL
  • Pine Bluff, AR
  • Pittsburg-Parsons, KS
  • Ponca City, OK

Congrats to 3Gstore Customer Ned B. For Writing Review of a Millenicom One-Time Activation Fee

Congrats to Ned B. of Southworth, Washington who just won a $25.00 Restaurant.com gift code for writing a review for Millenicom One-Time Activation Fee at 3Gstore.com! Every week we randomly pick one product review from the previous week and award the writer a $25.00 gift code. We appreciate ALL the reviews our customers write, whether they are positive or negative - honest reviews like Ned B.\'s help other customers decide if the product is right for them. After you purchase a product from 3Gstore.com, we encourage you to log in and 3Gstore.com and leave a review letting people know how the product worked for you - you'll be helping others, and you'll automatically be entered to win a restaurant.com gift code!.

Millenicom offered a better value DATA PLAN than any of the other carriers I was using. But their website said "Out of Stock" when I tried to sign up. I had to contact them to learn that 3G Store is the place to order a month-to-month subscription and buy equipment to use on the Millenicom network. Everything has been great since I got that info. It took 4 days for the SIM to arrive by US Mail. I stuck it in the #1 SIM slot of my mobile Pepwave MAX BR1, turned it on and haven't looked back. Bandwidth with Millenicom is like being on a good wireless net, plenty of pipe for streaming. Great product, I advise everyone who wants 20GB/mo to go for it, it is w-a-y less expensive than anything else available in summer-2014.

CloudCam Compatible with iOS 8

With Apple’s release of iOS 8 today, you may be wondering if it would be a good idea to update. One of the biggest questions on your mind may be “Will it still support my current applications?” Our CloudCam devices, for example, rely on a mobile application for remote viewing and configuration of the cameras. Without this app, users who rely on Mobile Broadband Internet through companies such as Verizon Wireless would be forced to pay $500 for a public IP address (See here for why private IPs won’t work for remote applications).

The CloudCams, unlike most IP cameras, utilize a cloud based app called mCamView. So, rather than having to open ports on your network to allow remote access to your cameras (or anything else on your network), you have an app. This gives users a way around the fees involved with purchasing a static IP address. Instead, they simply take the camera’s ID and password, enter it into the app, and the camera feed loads immediately (depending on the speed of your connection). This is mainly why the CloudCams are so easy to setup!

Don’t be afraid to proceed with the iOS update, if you like. We’ve tested mCamView with our own cameras and can assure you it works! Just keep this in mind for any other applications you rely on! You may consider asking a friend to test it first OR check with Apple to see if rolling back to iOS 7 may be an option BEFORE doing the update.

IP Switch 1 Outlet Compatible with iOS 8

Our team at 3Gstore tries to keep up with all updates relevant to our industry, whether they are directly related to our products or not. In the case of the new iOS 8 update released by Apple today, and one of our popular items, the 1 Outlet Remote Power IP Switch, we needed to confirm the ezOutlet application would still operate. After all, not only do we rely on it ourselves, but several of our customers as well.

The Remote Power IP Switch allows users a way to remotely power cycle devices such as routers, cameras, and web servers. The ezOutlet app, provides the user a way to not only configure the IP Switch, but also manually power the outlet on or off, reset the outlet, and upgrade firmware for the IP Switch. Without this, users who are relying on an IP Switch that is connected with a privately assigned WAN IP address on their network, are limited to local access only. Of course, this defeats the main purpose of the device!

Go ahead and update if you find necessary, ezOutlet will still work! And if you don’t already have one, check out the Remote Power IP Switch today and see if it may help you!

Not sure which IP Switch model may be right for you? Reference our comparison between the 2-Outlet and 1-Outlet models!

Option Cloudgate 4G Ships September 10th!

M2M Flexability

Beginning Wednesday, September 10th, the new Option Cloudgate M2M Cellular Gateway 3G/4G version will be available to ship through 3gstore.com.  This is a product that has been long desired by many of our customers because of it’s versatility and ability to adjust to different M2M situations.

Most embedded modems are “carrier specific,” meaning that if you have multiple carriers you either need two modems in your router, or two separate devices entirely. For some time we have carried the Option Cloudgate 3G, which has provided the single modem functionality, but lacking the speed of world’s 4G networks. 4G LTE is important for many consumers who need access to the fastest network available to keep business operations efficient. The Option Cloudgate 3G/4G will provide the best of both options, covering 4G LTE bands 4/13/17 which include Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Telus and Rogers. It also supports Global GSM providers using HSPA+ 800/850/900/1900/2100Mhz and even AWS 1700/2100Mhz.

The Option Cloudgate 3G/4G provides the function of being used as a rugged M2M solution. This may be perfect for those who make use of applications like Point-of-Sale, Kiosks, Digital Signage or ATMs. The device is sturdily built and compact, allowing for mounted or enclosed applications, while the GPS features make it an ideal choice for a mobile scenario.

The “expansion slots” and lengthy accessories page will allow you to customize your Cloudgate to perfectly fit your needs. The device includes two expansion ports so customers can select expansions based on their personal applications.
These options include:

For more information on the Option Cloudgate M2M Cellular Gateway 3G/4G, have a look at our past review of the Option Cloudate 3G (3G only).  This review gives more direction on the technical setup and configurable settings of the Option Cloudgate products. CTIA 2014

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR) (TSX: SW) today announced that the Sierra Wireless AirPrime EM7345 embedded wireless module is now certified to operate on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. This is part of the third generation of 4G LTE modules from Sierra Wireless, which first launched embedded modules on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network three years ago. The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is the largest in the U.S., available to more than 97 percent of the population.

“With the latest AirPrime embedded module from Sierra Wireless, OEMs have a high-quality, cost-efficient option to choose in integrating connectivity to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network,” said John Sullivan, Executive Director of the Connected Solutions group for Verizon Enterprise Solutions. “Sierra Wireless has been working with OEMs to connect devices to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network since it was first deployed, and we are pleased to be able to expand the choices available to manufacturers looking to integrate connectivity to the Verizon Wireless network into their products.”

The AirPrime EM7345, based on an Intel chipset, is designed for integration into notebook computers and tablets, with a standardized M.2 form factor ideal for small, thin devices. When integrated into a notebook or tablet computer, it provides end customers with access to Verizon Wireless mobile broadband at their fingertips, eliminating the need to look for public WiFi networks to get online.
“Achieving Verizon Wireless certification is an important milestone for us,” said Horst Pratsch, Head of Multi-Comm Products at Intel. “Our LTE platform is designed to deliver mobile broadband in a small form factor that meets the needs of PC OEMs for laptops, tablets, and other devices where thinness is a strategic feature and a competitive advantage. We are excited to see devices based on this platform with integrated Verizon Wireless service come to market.”

“Verizon Wireless has been a leading force in providing 4G LTE network connectivity in the U.S.,” said Dan Schieler, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, OEM Solutions for Sierra Wireless. “This technology leadership has been instrumental in enabling the growth of the Internet of Things, and we are pleased to deliver our next generation module for the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.”

Great services i get double the data that i had from verizon for only $10 extra. I'm using this for gaming which is working great with the UML-290 and peplink soho. Bought a static ip also but unfortunately they get them randomly generated by the upstream carrier which is verizon so my ip's location was about 600 miles away from my physical location. Which is why i gave it 4stars instead of 5stars, It caused about 60ms of extra latency which was frustrating because i finally had a open nat for gaming but was lagging very badly. So instead i contacted them for the standard dynamic ip now have a moderate nat with pings around 60ms-80ms which is working great! I wouldn't recommend the static ip for gaming but if your using it for cameras it works exceptional. Finally enjoying internet again without a strict nat and plenty of data for gaming i'd recommend getting Exede Viasat too for downloading large files/updates or games during their late night free zone. If you live out in the middle of nowhere like me this is as good as it gets for gaming.

ATT 4G LTE network now reaches 300 Million People

att_logo.gif

DALLAS, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* announced today that its 4G LTE network – the nation's most reliable -- now reaches more than 300 million Americans.**

"The strong performance we saw in our mobility business in the second quarter is continuing, not only because of our new service and device plans, but because more customers can get it all on a fast, reliable 4G LTE network that now covers more than 300 million Americans," said Randall Stephenson, AT&T chairman and CEO. "Great service and strong customer loyalty begin with having a great mobile network for customers where they live. That's our number one priority and that's why our mobile business is hitting on all cylinders."

AT&T's 4G LTE build out reached 300 million people months ahead of the yearend 2014 objective the company announced as part of its Project VIP plan in November 2012. Since then, wireless data traffic on AT&T's nationwide network has increased 2.5 times. With its Project VIP plan, AT&T is supporting its customers' growing desire for mobile, ultra-fast and reliable access to everything on the Internet, particularly video.

Over the past six years (2008 to 2013), AT&T has invested more than $140 billion into its wireless and wireline networks, including acquisitions of spectrum and wireless operations.  During that same period, AT&T has invested more capital into the U.S. economy than any other public company.

Cradlepoint customers deploy parallel networking to gain advantage

cradlepoint_logo.jpg

Parallel networking is how many organizations are defining, creating and managing their corporate networks for distributed locations, said Woodruff. Organizations of all sizes are moving 3rd party, vendor, guest and generally less trusted networks off of their secure core where they control the client behavior, access and security posture. I am excited to share the benefits of parallel networking and the influence that it has on a company's bottom line with this years CAMP IT audience.

A leading research firm that is focused on enterprise technology and market trends recently published that by 2016 nearly a third of all advanced targeted threats will use the branch office as an entry point. Once a foothold is established within the branch office, hackers then pivot towards either corporate systems or the point of sale systems, which results in a compromised network and negative impact to the organizations bottom line and brand. Parallel networking isolates specific applications and their networks, creating physical air gaps between networks, which in turn prevents pivot attacks. The adoption of parallel networks allows organizations to tighten their security and improve business continuity to keep pace with the ever-increasing demands placed upon corporate networks.

An example of parallel networking within a modern retail outlet illustrates the immediate value that such a network provides to a distributed enterprise. A retail chains IT department is tasked with developing and deploying a cohesive and secure network infrastructure that supports the retail outlet at the networks edge. Specific applications that rely on wireless connectivity include point of sale systems, customer and employee WiFi, digital signage, HVAC systems, security, etc., all which help the business run more efficiently. CradlePoints ability to harness the speeds of 4G LTE with its suite of networking solutions and Enterprise Cloud Manager, CradlePoints cloud-based, network management solution, allows organizations to better manage and deploy a parallel networking architecture from a centralized location. CradlePoints customers have come to rely upon Enterprise Cloud Manager to allow administrators with enhanced policy management to immediately access and monitor network devices using wireless connectivity with zero-touch deployments, seamless firmware updates and instant optimization. This type of management within a parallel networking architecture results in improved business operations, secure networking and better control over the entire network.

Apple Denies iCloud was Breached

Apple responds to the nude photo incident from this past weekend.

We wanted to provide an update to our investigation into the theft of photos of certain celebrities. When we learned of the theft, we were outraged and immediately mobilized Apple’s engineers to discover the source. Our customers’ privacy and security are of utmost importance to us. After more than 40 hours of investigation, we have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet. None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple’s systems including iCloud® or Find my iPhone. We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help identify the criminals involved.
To protect against this type of attack, we advise all users to always use a strong password and enable two-step verification. Both of these are addressed on our website at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4232
