SureCall's Force5 Wins Commercial Integrator's BEST Award for Cell Booster Technology

Judged by a panel made up of industry integrators, SureCall's patent pending Force5 won the 2014 top award from Commercial Integrator for best cell booster technology, presented at the recent InfoComm Show.

The Commercial Integrator BEST Awards program recognizes the highest quality solutions for integration businesses. The winners were chosen by a panel of industry experts, integrators and the editors of CI and sister publication TechDecisions. Judges based their decisions on innovation, functionality, competitive advantages and benefits to the installer.

Some of the determining factors in SureCall’s win was the Force5's separate uplink and downlink lanes, which help eliminate signal collisions and allow for some of the fastest 4G data rates in the industry. Also, when it was first released in 2012, it was the first self-contained cell booster on the market to support 2G, 3G and 4G service for every major carrier. Due to this, the Force5 has become the leading choice of professional installers everywhere.

Unlike competing boosters, the Force5 is the only booster that offers:
  • Modular design with each booster covering up to 80,000 square feet with the ability to cover more area with additional boosters
  • Ability to support 100+ simultaneous users
  • SureCall's highly linear design

Think the Force5 may help your business? Call the SureCall experts at 3Gstore.com for assistance in making the right decision!

New FCC Rules for Wireless Amplifiers Now In Effect (5/1/14)

fcc logo

The FCC adopted new requirements for cellular amplifiers back in 2013, but the requirements did not fully go into effect until May 1, 2014. As of today, all cellular amplifiers sold must comply with the new rules and the older models can no longer be sold. All amplifiers currently sold by 3Gstore are FCC-approved and meet the new rules, which include:
  • Amplifiers must be sold in complete kits that include cabling and antennas
  • Amplifiers must be designed to limit interference and automatically shut down when necessary
  • The packaging must include a label like the below example:
fcc amplifier warning label

Additionally, users must register their amplifiers with their cellular provider. This does not cost anything and all of the major carriers in the US (including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and over 80 regional providers) have given blanket consent for all of the new FCC-approved amplifiers as long as they are registered with them. Below are the direct links to register amplifiers with some of the carriers:
If you purchased an amplifier before May 1, 2014, and it does not meet the new requirements, YOU DO NOT NEED TO WORRY! All amplifiers purchased prior to 5/1/14 are grandfathered in and you may continue to use your amplifier. However, if the FCC or your service provider determines that your amplifier is interfering with the wireless network in any way and asks you to stop using it, you must comply (or adjust your installation so that it is no longer causing interference).

T-Mobile 4G LTE hits 154 deployed markets

T-Mobile has announced that they now offer 4G LTE coverage in a total of 154 markets across the U.S. This is just behind Sprint that just announced that they’ve got 185 markets covered with 4G LTE. The latest launch by T-Mobile allows them to cover about 180 million POPs up from the previous 157 million POPs back in July. Their goal is to offer 4G LTE to 200 markets by the end of 2013 covering about 200 million POPs with LTE service. The latest launch puts them in fourth place with LTE coverage, Sprint in third, AT&T in second and Verizon in first with over 500 markets that offer 4G LTE service. Customers in 4G LTE areas can expect to see around 5-12Mbps download and 2-5Mbps upload with many customers reporting substantially faster speeds!

One of the biggest problems customers can face when using MiFi, USB modems or embedded routers is cellular signal strength. In most scenarios it’s best to go with a full outdoor antenna to help remove structural interference, however, some users won’t have that option. If you live in a condo, apartment or lease a building for your business then you may not have the option to drill holes through walls and mount something outside. When this situation occurs the next step is to look at internal solutions that can offer a substantial amount of gain, without externally wiring antennas.

Pictured above is the Cellphone-Mate CM700V-32 LTE amplifier for Verizon and our High Gain cellular Paddle Antenna. Unlike most other antennas the Paddle antenna simply screws right onto the amplifier after you connect an SMA/Female to FME/Female adapter between the amplifier and antenna. There is no additional cable required which means you won’t have additional loss by running cables further away to another area within the building. The amplifier itself provides up to 3 Watts of amplification and a maximum potential 32dB of system gain! From the other side of the amplifier you get a small 6’ cable that typically goes into your MiFi (pictured at top), USB modem or embedded router.

AT&T LTE now available in 200 markets

Recently AT&T has been ramping up their LTE deployment schedule and now offer LTE in more than 200 markets. This week LTE service arrived in Manhattan, Kansas, Sedalia and Warrensburg, Missouri, and Jacksonville and Palestine, Texas. In the summer they plan to launch an additional 77 markets to cover over 250 million POP’s throughout the U.S. Users in 4G LTE areas can expect average download speeds of 5-12Mbps and 2-5Mbps on the upload. AT&T’s 200 LTE markets may sound impressive, but they’re still far behind Verizon that currently has LTE coverage in 491 markets already covering 90% of their customer base.

FCC Cellular Amplifier Rules and Cellphone-Mate

Earlier this month the FCC released their new regulations for cellular amplifiers that boost cellular service. Within the ruling it was made clear that cellular signal boosters are completely legal for both business and consumer use, and all major carriers have given consent to use signal boosters. The FCC will give manufactures a one year transition period, until March 2014 to move to the new technical standards and allow sales of existing amplifiers while the transition occurs. The new regulations may increase the cost of signal boosters in the future because some of the components may need to be redesigned to comply with the new regulations.

In an interview with Wireless Week Cellphone-Mate speaks out about signal boosters. Within the interview Hongtao Zhan, CEO of Cellphone-Mate talks about the company manufacturing both commercial and residential signal boosters and believes the commission made the right decision. About five years ago the FCC started complaining that signal boosters could cause interference and should not be legal, despite the fact that millions of people across the country rely on them for signal in their home, office or while traveling. In rare occurrences signal boosters can cause interference and Zhan said that in the two million plus signal boosters have been sold throughout the U.S. and the number of devices that interfered with the network was very small.

While the FCC investigated signal amplifiers Cellphone-Mate helped them a lot with their research, and assisted them in understanding the issues and resolving technical concerns. Zhan also said that it was essential for the carriers and manufacturers of signal boosters to come to a resolution and solve any outstanding concerns. “In a sense it’s a live or die issue for the industry,” Zhan said. “Who wants to manufacture if FCC says it’s illegal?” The new regulations that the FCC has put in place will ensure that carriers remain happy and won’t need to worry about a cellular amplifier bringing down their cellular network.

Cellphone-Mate® Announces The SureCall® Fusion-5

Affordable 2G through 4G solution now available for Mid-Sized, Small Businesses and Large homes with Fusion-5™ Cellular Amplifier .
Fremont, Calif., (December 4, 2012) – Cellphone-Mate, a leading provider of cellular signal boosters and accessories, today announced the introduction of the SureCall Fusion-5 (Model No. CM-Fusion-5), a five-band cellular amplifier designed as a cost-effective solution for mid- sized businesses, small businesses and large homes. The Fusion-5 combines dual-band PCS and Cellular coverage for 2G and 3G voice/data along with LTE and AWS coverage for AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile 4G data in a compact and lightweight casing that can be easily installed in most businesses or large residences with areas up to 10,000 square feet.

The introduction of the Fusion-5 follows in the wake of the introduction of its big brother, the Force-5, last spring. As with the Force-5, this new amplifier combines five bands of self-contained cellular amplification in a price range and size unmatched by competitive models. Cellphone-Mate CEO, Hongtao Zhan, comments on the introduction of the second in its series.

“The new Fusion-5 combines all the coverage capabilities of the larger Force-5 but at a price range that’s easily affordable to small and mid-size businesses. With this new amplifier, we combine emergent technology at a cost most businesses can implement immediately to combine vastly improved voice and data coverage no matter what carrier or service employees are using.”

With an MSRP of $1,699, the Fusion-5 provides a low-cost cellular solution that would normally be beyond the budgetary scope of smaller businesses needing or requiring 2G through 4G cellular service within their building. At one-fifth the cost and a fraction the size of comparable rack options, the Fusion- 5 also provides wireless system integrators and installers with a cost-effective enterprise-grade solution that delivers improved, uninterrupted voice and data to 5-10 simultaneous users.

The SureCall® Fusion-5 is FCC approved and is designed as a carrier-neutral solution in one box which universally supports all major carriers in the U.S. on all standards, except IDEN and WiMax for Sprint.

The SureCall® Fusion-5 presents a plug and play design allowing for seamless integration into existing networks and features automatic oscillation detection, automatic shutdown to prevent interference with cell phone towers and comes with attenuators to adjust dB gain in smaller buildings. Additionally, its compartmentalized architecture works to create a more durable product giving much clearer signal.

Cellphone-Mate's New E-Flex 65db Adjustable Gain Wireless Amplifier Now Available

Cellphone-Mate has added a new amp to their lineup: the E-Flex 65db Adjustable Gain Dual-Band Wireless Amplifier.

This new amplifier replaces the popular 62db SOHO amp, but it's more powerful (65db vs 62db  — if you're not familiar with "gain" as it related to wireless amplifiers, this means that the new amplifier can provide boosted signal to an area about 50% larger than the old one could handle; you can read more about gain here) and it is the first of Cellphone-Mate's amplifiers to feature adjustable gain. Adjustable gain allows you to "dial down" the gain on either the 800mhz or 1900mhz frequency (or both if necessary), which can be very helpful during installation: if you aren't able to achieve enough separation between the interior and exterior antennas to avoid oscillation, you can adjust the gain on the amplifier so that it doesn't need as much separation between the two antennas.

Best of all, even though this new amplifier is more powerful and features adjustable gain, it is actually CHEAPER than the older 62db amp! The E-Flex 65 is just $359 when purchased by itself (this option is good for users who already own antennas and cables or who have special installation requirements and need to buy the various components "a la carte"); there are also three kits available for just $449.95 that include the E-Flex amplifier itself AND all the antennas and cabling you'll need - these are a great bargain and offer huge savings versus buying things piecemeal:

1) E-Flex 65 kit with Omni External Antenna & Panel Interior Antenna - this kit includes the E-Flex 65 amp, the CM288W 9.5" Omni External Antenna, the 248W Interior Panel Antenna, and 30' and 75' lengths of low-loss cabling.

2) E-Flex 65 kit with Yagi External Antenna & Panel Interior Antenna - this kit includes the E-Flex 65 amp, the CM230 Yagi External Antenna, the 248W Interior Panel Antenna, and 30' and 75' lengths of low-loss cabling. This kit is only suitable for users who know where their cell tower is and can aim the Yagi antenna right at it (it won't be effective if it's not properly aimed or if there are lots of obstructions between it and the cell tower).

3) E-Flex 65 kit with Omni External Antenna & Dome Interior Antenna - this kit includes the E-Flex 65 amp, the CM288W 9.5" Omni External Antenna, the CM222 Interior Dome Antenna, and 30' and 75' lengths of low-loss cabling.

The E-Flex 65 works for 800/1900mhz cellular networks, which includes most 2G and 3G networks in the USA (including Sprint 2G/3G, Verizon 2G/3G, AT&T 2G/3G and HSPA+, Alltel 2G/3G, Datajack, Virgin Mobile, and more). Depending on the signal strength at your location as well as the layout and construction of the building, it can cover up to 6,000 square feet with boosted signal.

The Cellphone-Mate E-Flex 65db Adjustable Gain Wireless Amplifier (and all the kits that include it) is available now at 3Gstore!

force five cm5000
The SureCall® Force-5 CM5000 Wireless Amplifier, the first amplifier that supports virtually every 2G, 3G, and 4G frequency in North America (except Nextel/iDen and Sprint/CLEAR 4G WiMAX), is now available!
force-5 amps in stock
The Force-5 is in stock at 3Gstore!

The Force-5 supports 700/800/1900/2100mhz networks, which are used by most 2G, 3G, and 4G networks in the USA (including Sprint 2G/3G, Verizon 2G/3G/4G, AT&T 2G/3G/4G, T-Mobile 3G/4G, Alltel 2G/3G, Datajack, Virgin Mobile, and more). This is the first and ONLY amplifier currently available that supports ALL of those frequencies. Prior to the availability of the Force-5, customers who wanted to boost the signal to 3G and 4G devices from a variety of providers had to either install multiple systems or compromise their plans and settle for just boosting some of the networks.

The Force-5 has an 80db gain rating, meaning it can provide boosted signal for VERY large buildings - up to 80,000 square feet (in ideal conditions)! Thanks to its cost and power, the Force-5 is not appropriate for smaller buildings; it is intended for use in large buildings where lots of users of various networks are in need of better signal (for example, an office building where the owner wants to make sure all of his employees and customers can make phone calls regardless of who their provider is).
